The authentication system of MediaWiki has been completely rewritten in 1.27 to better support external identity providers, multi-step registration and login, APIs and peaceful coexistence of multiple authentication extensions. Third-party code needs to be updated to take advantage of the new features (or, in some cases, to work properly). The talk will introduce the new authentication system and give advice and some examples on how to upgrade. (Slides)
