Wiki Release Team

The 2014-2015 quarterly goals are defined by the following drivers:

  • Provide the third party MediaWiki users with MediaWiki tarball release management, support, and advocacy
  • Implement lightweight environmental scan
  • Build up a user group
  • Develop a developer community

    • Scheduled presentation of what's new in MW 1.24 to enterprise user group in Houston, Texas
  • Plan of action for environmental scan
    • Release Team tasks:
      • Use data from WikiApiary and wikistats.wmflabs.org to gain understanding of who third party customers are
      • Compile a list of top requested features
      • Compile a list of bug fixes
    • Mentor Google Code-in 2014 students for the following tasks:
      • Research inactive wikis from WikiApiary
      • Fortune 1000
      • Find unique wikis
      • Look through mailing lists for mentions of requested features or pain points
      • Student participation in discussion about important questions to include in customer survey

The release and user group work are organized through monthly sprints with quarterly reviews. Each quarter's work will progress towards the annual goals.
