The Minimum Name Length extension allows to set a minimum length for user names which will be enforced during account creation.
Installation
- Download and place the file(s) in a directory called
MinimumNameLength
in yourextensions/
folder. - Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php
wfLoadExtension( 'MinimumNameLength' );
file: - Configure as required
Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.
Configuration
To configure the minimum name length for a username, set $wgMinimumUsernameLength
in the "LocalSettings.php" file, after the call to include the extension as described in the installation section, e.g.
$wgMinimumUsernameLength = 8;

is the default setting. In case you are fine with this you do not need to do anything.
